Amazon, Netflix

Bernie Sanders is a millionaire. However, he is not letting that stop him from criticizing big corporations. He stated that Netflix and Amazon are a disgrace for not paying taxes. He also said that 60 of the Fortune 500 companies did not pay taxes last year. Bernie blamed Trump’s tax bill for the companies not paying taxes.

An Amazon spokesperson stated that Bernie’s statements are not accurate. He said that the company pays all of the required taxes. They also stated that they have paid $2.6 billion in corporate tax and $3.4 billion in tax expenses over the past three years.

A Netflix spokesperson has also stated that Bernie is not telling the truth. The woman stated that it is inaccurate to say that Netflix did not pay any taxes. She also stated that tax adjustments were in 2018, but they will be paying a lot more in taxes in 2019.

Tax cuts reduced corporate tax from 35 percent to 21 percent. Companies like Netflix and Amazon also used a variety of strategies to reduce the amount of taxes that they paid. Bernie also criticized the tax cuts. He stated that the tax cuts were for wealthy corporations instead of the American people.

Elizabeth Warren has also criticized big corporations. She posted a tweet that said “If you paid $1 in taxes, then you paid more than Eli Lily, Amazon and Chevron”. She also stated that the system is rigged against hard-working families.

Many Americans do not believe that they are benefiting from the tax cuts. Seventy percent of them stated that they have either had no change in their tax refund or are paying more than they did last year. Many people wonder whether they will benefit from the massive tax cuts that President Trump and the Republicans promised.
