Manafort Conviction Totally Unrelated to Russian Collusion

Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee writes that the 47-month prison sentence handed down by US District Judge, T.S Ellis to Paul Manafort for tax fraud, bank fraud and failure to report a foreign bank account, has nothing whatsoever to do with the Muller investigation. And the judge agrees that it doesn’t. “He is not before the court for anything having to do with colluding with the Russian government,” Ellis said. All of Manafort’s convictions are the result of acts he committed from as far back as 2006, long before he ever worked as chairman of the Trump campaign. They are all the result of Manafort’s own shady collusion with Rick Gates, former lobbyist, who has pleaded guilty to conspiracy against the United States and making false statements.

Huckabee goes on to say that this shows that the Trump campaign Russian collusion allegation was nothing more than a complete fabrication by Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, along with other Clinton operatives, to justify their embarrassing defeat in the 2016 election. After two years of Muller’s investigation there has not been any evidence at all of Trump-Russia collusion.

This leaves the Democrats with little to no ammunition for their upcoming election campaign, though they’ve exerted every effort to falsely present Manafort’s conviction as solid evidence of Donald Trump’s guilt and the efficacy of the Muller investigation. They know this is a completely nonsensical conclusion to draw from Manafort’s conviction which is partially why they’ve already started a new, unconstitutional investigation headed by Jerry Nadler, chair of the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary, more accurately referred to as a witch hunt. Huckabee believes that these new probes will turn up nothing more than the Muller investigation did to add to the Democrat failures of their nasty and hateful, unsubstantiated politically motivated allegations.
